Father's Day in 2012 is on Sunday, the 17th of June.

Why do we celebrate Father’s day?
We celebrate father’s day so we can make our
Fathers feel special and we give them presents. But unfortunately not every one celebrates father’s day. Mostly United states celebrate this day. They have an official day which fathers are honoured by their children. On the Third Sunday in June fathers are treated very specially.

Last year a group of six suspects were taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC ).They’re some of the people who are suspected to be behind the many traggic things that happened in the Post Election Violence during the year 2007. They are known as the Ocampo Six, William Ruto, Uhuru Kenytta, Henry Kosgey, Julias Sang, Mohamed Ali and Franklin Muthaura.Prevoius trails in the Hague take a very long time, hope that this case doesn’t take long so people can get there justice, Plus this year is the Election and I’m pretty sure that a few of the suspects will be running for president such as William Ruto or Uhuru Kenyatta and other which I may not know about so they need to start campeigning.

This year the African youth Chess championships will take place in Egypt. I will definately try my best to qualify because then the government will pay for my accommodation. If I go there I will definatley meet people from South Africa. Some might even be WCM’s (Women’s Candidate Master). If I come 2nd or 3rd I will become a WCM. If I come 1st then I will become a WFM(Womans Fide Master) after that a WIM(Women’s International Master) and finally a WGM(Women’s Grand Master).
My other expectation is passing the acer exams with flying colours. Like way above the grey banner and trying to come atleast in the top three.
I also really want to go and visit parts of India and go to Shirdi to visit the temple of the god, I belive in which is many steps up.

    The leap year
We all know that a leap year comes after every four years and this year 2012 it’s going to happen once again. The leap year is on February 29th. It must be very cool to be born on the 29th of February although your birthday would come after every four years. A leap year is adding an extra day to the year. So in a leap year there would be 366 days instead of 365. The next leap year will be on the 2014 the easy way to know if it is the leap is if the year’s number can be divided by four.

  5. Armaan says…
This year is a Leap Year, and the year will have three hundred and sixty six (366) days rather than three hundred and sixty five (365) days, the reason that the year will have one more day than usual is because February will have twenty nine days. This kind of a year comes every four years. The last time this happened was in 2008.This is not a very rare occasion, just a once-in-a-while occasion.

  6. Make things better in school
    Fatema says,
It’s 2012! What an excitement! Who has watched 2012? Well, it’s a movie showing that the world is going to end in this year. But it’s not true because it’s just a movie. Anyway, in this year I want to try and make the school a better place for everyone.

While coming to school, the cars get all jumbled up in the parking lot. But it’s not so much in the morning because they just drop and go. But at home time the cars are parked everywhere. It’s also not fair on others if the want to exit the school.

This year is the PYP Evaluation, it’s when a few people from the IB come to see how we have been doing over the last four years. In my opinion this will be a good opportunity for the school to showcase a bit. I have a feeling that that the people from the IB will be really pleased when they come and see what we have been doing. For example have changed the P.E kit from T-shirt and white shorts to a proper tracksuit and a whole bunch of other things.

  10. Kenya’s 2012 resolutions

    Michelle,collete and millicent says
No corruption: because corruption kills and takes people to I.D.P(internerly displaced people) camps. It makes people poorer and poorer everyday.
No post election violence during election:Because we will have more I.D.P’s in the camps and it will be harder taking them to homes and giving them land.
We want the currency to become better so we are able to exchange goods all over the world and aslo the things tat have become very expensive will become cheaper and will make kenyans able to afford and acsess. For example: fuel and kerosene.

On the 13 of may which is on a Sunday, mothers day is celebratd. We celbrate our mum’s for everything they have done for us. We appriciate them and we make our mum’s proud of us, and most improtently we make your mum happy. You show your mum you love them.you show your mum how much you adore her and that you thank her of all the things that she has done for you. When its mothers day, you treat your her very well. Don’t make her angry. Treat her like a queen beacause she is the reason we celebrate mothers day.

  12. Africa cup of nations
    BY:Hrashit shah 6A

The africa cup of nations is mainly about an international football tornament in Africa. It has been there since 1957 and till this year 2012 there have been 51 cups so far till the upcoming 2012 Africa cup of nations. Since 1968 it has been held every two years. The title holders at the time were FIFA qulifications cup. In 1957 the only teams that participated were: Egypt, Sudan, Ethopia and South-Africa but were diqulified because of the government.
Since then the cup has been growing greatly. In 1998 there were now 16 countries but Nigeria withdrew leaving it to 15 teams. Since then only 16 teams were to compete so that now there were qulifing rounds to enter this cup.
The way it has been played are 4 teams in four groups and if teams win games they are taken to the knock-out stages where temas will live if they lose a football match. Egypt is hold the record for winning the cup 7 times as Ghana and Cameron have won 4 titels each. The tornament is sometimes held on odd years so they doesn’t clash with the world cup. Many teams want to qulify for the African cup of nations so that they might get a chance to play in the world cup.

  14. This year’s Olympics are in the United Kingdom. They are many different countries participating. Kenya is one of them; they are many different sports that people are doing, for example swimming, football, Athletics and many more.
The last Olympics were in Beijing- China. Jamaica and the United States were top contenders. Usain bolt made
a new 100 meters world record at the last Olympics.
They will start in the summer on the 27th July 2012 to the 12th of August.
London has hosted the Olympics twice in 1908 and 1948
They expect 205 nations to participate in the 300 event.

Another expectation for this year is the musical. We are really looking forward to the musical because it is a whole school musical. It is going to be good also because we will learn what else happens in a musical apart from acting.
This is the first whole school musical for at least 7 years. I hope it will be good because it is my last junior school musical. So far we have all done auditions and we all hope to be part of the cast

We also have Acer exams this year and we all hope to do well better than we did last year. I also hope that this year elections will not have violence and people do not get hurt. I hope we get a good president who will make Kenya a better place for people.
